We are so excited! William called this morning to tell us that he had just passed his PFT and would be picking up with Golf Co. either today or Thursday. We were able to talk to him for over 20 minutes and his voice sounded GREAT! He told us that last Thursday, right after he got to PCP, he was talking to a Marine about the pull-ups and the guy suggested another way for him to try them. Will did, and got three of them right away! We talked about God's hand in all of this, for reasons we may never know. He did say that it had occurred to him that because of the delay he will officially become a Marine on 9/11, and that will be very meaningful to him.
It was so wonderful to be able to have a more lengthy conversation. David and Laura were both home, so we put him on speakerphone and could all participate in the conversation. It made both us and him long for the time...in just a little over 2 weeks now...when we can talk face to face and hear the stories. He did say that he had been working on a letter, and that there hadn't been a good stopping point so he just continued writing. He was writing on his little note pad (remember the previous scan?) and that he had finished it, so was just going to stick the whole pad in an envelope, slap 5 stamps on it, and send it in tomorrow's mail....all 48 pages!! Oh, what fun it will be to read that novel! :)
We told him about Aaron's determination to best him at the rifle range and he said, "Let him try!" His final score was 323, out of a possible 350. Now we'll wait to see what Aaron has to say! :) Go, Aaron!! It's amazing what a little competition brings about.
Thank you to those who have been praying with us. We are absolutely rejoicing in God's mercy this morning. Graduation will be here before we know it...only 16 more days until we get to see him. Ooh-rah!!
